NEW on this week’s announcements:

(Full Band)  Audition etudes are now posted in the Google classroom.  These will be the last week of January for not only seating this year, but also placement in next year’s concert ensembles.

(Full Band)  PEP BAND: Wednesday: Blue & White 5:30 p.m  report for 8th grade night pep rally.  Friday night is WHITE @ 5:15 p.m. and Saturday is BLUE @ 4:45 p.m. Saturday is ALUMNI night so invite a former band member you know.

(Full Band)  SOLO & ENSEMBLE:  The list is posted in the Google classroom.  All performers, including those listed as ALTERNATE, will continue to prepare and perform at the Souper Bowl in February.  Those listed as APPROVED will then perform at the LPS Contest February 17th.  ALTERNATE’s should keep the 17th open as they may be moved up if other students have conflicts.

(Full Band)  There will be an informational meeting for all those interested in participating in Winter Color Guard next Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

(Full Band)  Congratulations to Josh Williams for being selected to the Young Lion’s All-Star Jazz Band on January 19th.

(Full Band)  Congratulations to Elsie Moorehead for being selected to the Nebraska Wesleyan Honor Band on February 8-10.

(Full Band)  Congratulations to the following 9th grade students for being selected for the Kearney Underclassmen Honor Band on January 15th:  Olivia Brehm, Lucas Chen, Brynn Drickey, Evan Hennig, Jenna McCarter, and Jason Manzitto.


Calling all East Band Alums! Alumni Basketball games are this Saturday, January 13th. Report time is 4:45 p.m.– wear East Band gear or something blue that still fits from your high school days. Spread the word—we want to see the stands filled up with band alumni!!! GO SPARTANS!!!


We are pleased to announce that the proceeds from gift wrapping at Gateway this year totaled. . . $4,195.47—enough for another tuba!!!!!!

THANK YOU AGAIN to all the students and parents who volunteered during the event—those who made hundreds of bows; those who came at a moment’s notice to help out when we were slammed with customers; those who worked one shift and those who worked twenty shifts; those who donated supplies; everyone who was even the slightest bit connected to this project!! We have so many talented, selfless and devoted members of our band family—we cannot thank you enough!! YOU made this all possible!!!!

Please mark your calendar and plan to be with us for the Band Parent Meeting on March 1st in the Auditorium. This is a very important meeting. Mr. Thorpe will be presenting the band performance schedule for 2018-2019, distribute band forms, and answer any questions you may have about band camp and next year’s marching band season.
