HELP!  WE NEED VOLUNTEERS THIS WEEK!!!

    Football Game

Our football season has just started and we are in need of volunteers for our home games:

*BAND ROADIES/PIT CREW: Move equipment to the field, set up during half-time and put equipment away after the show

*FUN WITH FLAGS:  Assisting the Color Guard with hair, makeup, uniforms, and flags.

*PLAY WITH PLUMES:  Assisting students to find their uniforms, shine shoes, insert plumes into their hats, and put their uniforms away at the end of the game.

*BAND WRANGLERS:  Sit in the stands and keep the 9th grade band company during half-time to oversee safety and encourage positive behavior among our newest band members.

If you can help at any of the games, we would appreciate it so much!!! You can even make it a family event! Sign-up sheets are available at http://goband.org/boosters/sign-up-sheets/.

Feel free to sign up for as many performances as you wish.

    Harvest of Harmony Volunteers

Competition season will be upon us next month starting with the Harvest of Harmony parade and performance in Grand Island on Saturday, October 7th.  This is an ALL DAY event—we will leave before day break and come back in that evening.  It is a really great day!  You don’t want to miss the fun!

We are looking for volunteers to chaperone the band on the busses, help them with uniforms, keep them hydrated throughout the day, and assist them and monitor them during lunch.

If you are interested in being a “Band Groupie”, please sign up at http://goband.org/boosters/sign-up-sheets/

    Vendor & Craft Fair Volunteers

We are looking for a volunteer to work with the Event Chair to coordinate the raffle during the Vendor and Craft Fair on Sunday November 19th.  The coordinator would be responsible for putting together a team to ask for donations of all sizes from individuals and businesses, not only in the East community, but across the city.  We would like to have three large items that will generate a lot of interest (ideas include electronics, trips/weekend getaways, Husker gear, etc.), as well as smaller items (gift cards, gift baskets, etc.)

We are also looking for a coordinator for the soup/sandwich feed during the event. Working with the Event Chair, the food coordinator would be responsible for asking for volunteers to donate soup and sandwiches, paper products, etc., and finding volunteers set up/clean up and serve food during the event.

All proceeds from raffle and the soup/sandwich feed will support the #savethetubas campaign.

If you are interested in volunteering for either position, please contact the Event Chair, Sonya Brakeman, at sbrakeman1971@yahoo.com.

YOUR # T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, DECALS AND BAND APPAREL ORDERS ARE READY FOR PICK UP

PICTURE MAKE UP DAY AND PICTURE DAY ORDER FORM

For those band members who did not have their picture taken on Picture Day, there will be a make up session some time during the Capital City Championship Competition on Saturday, September 30th.  The exact time will be announced later.  Even if you choose not to purchase any photo items, we would still like to have a picture of your student so the photographer can create sectional photos.

ANY INTEREST IN A “PARENT TRIP” TO THE HARVEST OF HARMONY PARADE??

At the Band Booster Parent meeting last Thursday, we talked about organizing a possible “Parent Trip” to the Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island on Saturday, October 7th.

The Parent Trip would provide an opportunity for parents, especially freshman, parents, to get to know other parents and have someone to talk to and “hang” with during the day.

If there is interest, the Boosters would arrange a place for the parents to sit/stand along the parade route, somewhere to have lunch together (parents are responsible for paying for their own lunches), and possibly organize or suggest other activities in between events during the day.

You are invited to take this brief survey about your interest in the Parent Trip. The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/F9WBRLF.

Our fantastic and supportive parents are always full of great ideas!!! If you have an idea for a band fundraiser, please feel free to contact the Booster Executive Board at eastbandexecutiveboard@gmail.com with the information.

We know, we know—you may say to yourself, “But if I tell you my idea, you’ll make me organize the event.”  Not necessarily—sometimes all it takes is for one person to come up with the idea and another person to run with it.  We’d love to hear what you have in mind!!
